Trimodal Geothermal Program

Trimodal

Trimodal has developed a low temperature phase change engine (LTPC). This engine allows us to harness energies with temperatures as low as 150F. Energy at this temperature is usually useless. Only 1 out of 300 geothermal wells produce steam which is required for most geothermal technologies. Using our new LTPC engine will allow many of these previously useless wells to now be developed. In addition, at any manufacturing facility or plant that you see a cooling tower, we can now splice in a LTPC engine and create large amounts of power. For example, 2/3 of all heat created at a coal fired power plant goes up the stack and into cooling towers. We believe and will soon prove that our technology can nearly double the power output from a coal fired power plant without increase the coal intake - and this can be achieved at a fraction of the cost that it would normally take for normal turbines. This new technology is scalable from 100kw up to 25mw in size and can be modularized to go even larger.

One of the other major new innovations in our geothermal process is that we have absolutely no scaling as we have a non-impingement direct ingestion process and a closed loop system which gives off no emissions. Scaling is one of the biggest maintenance issues and costs related to running a geothermal plant, with our technology this cost and headache is eliminated.

We also have an alternate technology related to extremely high temperature geothermal opportunities. Usually high temperature geothermal wells that are above 600F are considered to hot. We have developed a boundary layer, direct ingestion turbine which has been tested to 660F for 9 months, with no issues. In addition, we can accept as much as 30% mineralization or sludge within the brine itself, which is unparallel in this industry.
